Rector

Professor Reid Whitlock is the Rector (Vice Chancellor) of the School of Finance and Banking.

As the senior officer in charge of the SFB community, he is the person ultimately responsible for dormitory life, academic standards and innovation, administrative quality, discipline, morale, student placement, alumni relations, fund-raising and more.

He brings experience from the private sector (management consulting, academic publishing and banking), the military (special operations, counter-terrorism, defense attaché duties, and small unit leadership), academe (as instructor, dean and university president), diplomacy & development (public diplomacy, food aid, agro-forestry, governance, leadership, post-conflict reconstruction) and from a life lived in countries
throughout the world from Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia to Senegal, Taiwan to Tanzania.

He is trained in foreign languages, area studies, international law, business and economics, and has published in fields ranging from competitiveness to leadership to treaty law to food security to transport economics.

He teaches Banking and Strategy at SFB and is a frequent contributor to panels, colloquia, debates and workshops.

He has a Ph.D (economics), MBA (master of business administration), MALD (master of international law) and a B.A. with a major in Chinese and a minor in Classics.

Vice Rector Academic's profile

Dr. Papias Musafiri Malimba is the Vice – Rector Academic at the School of Banking and Finance. He has over 10 years experience as academician actively engaged in Teaching, Research and Consultancy in institutions of higher learning in the areas of finance, accounting and economics.

While working as an academic staff at the institutions of higher learning, he was also involved in academic and administration duties at senior management positions including that of Director of Administration and Human Resources Management, Dean of Graduate Studies, Dean Faculty of Management, Head of Department and Industrial Liaison Officer.

Before he was appointed as Academic Vice Rector at SFB, he was the Director of Policy, Research and Strategy at the National Council for Higher Education. Dr. Papias was also formerly Director of General Services in the Ministry of Justice.

Dr. Papias received his Bachelor Degree in Commerce and Management at the University of Dar es salaam, Tanzania and his Masters Degree in Business Administration (MBA) majoring in Finance and Information Technology from the School of Business at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT - Roorkee). He has Doctor of Philosophy in Finance from VIT University .
