Careers Center
The center aims at providing career guidance to the students and serve as a link between them and employers for internship and employment opportunities. Our mission is to engender self-awareness and confidence in career development among prospective and continuing students of SFB and its Alumni, and develop skills in real work situations, professional growth and job acquisition.
Objectives of the Career Center
- To enhance career literacy of SFB students
- To identify internship and employment opportunities for the students.
- To provide career guidance and counseling to the students.
- To educate and motivate all students to develop and take action to achieve current and future career goals.
- To expose students and graduates to the world of work.
- To gather information about the labor market and provide feedback to SFB for curriculum development
- To make students knowledgeable and competent individual to meet the changes in upcoming local and international labour markets.
Services of the career center
The SFB career Center is not only concerned with students academic excellence but also how they manage their own learning and personal development. Through individual and group counseling, we will provide career advice and guidance in securing internships and employment opportunities. Our services will include but will not be limited to the following groups :
New students
Our objective is to enhance career literacy of SFB students, which is critical to being marketable on graduating. We therefore welcome all new students at the centre so that we may advise you on different graduate options and show you how to shape them to your personal needs and equip you with career planning information, self-awareness and professional development as you advance in your studies at SFB.
Continuing Students
As a continuing student, our objective is to make you knowledgeable and a competent individual to meet the changes in upcoming local and international labour markets. In this regard the SFBCC will guide, counsel individual students and equip you with skills on how to streamline what you already have to the demands of changing trends in societal needs and technology.
Alumni
Our mission does not only focus on students but goes beyond to prospective alumni thus our commitment concept is life long learning. Your academic qualifications may not be enough for today’s job market which is full of opportunities but is also changing and developing to meet the needs of 21st Century. At SFBCC we are committed to equipping our students with skills and knowledge for professional growth that prepares them to work creatively and dynamically. This we achieve through workshops, job fairs, seminars and lectures. We also assist our students in developing CV’s that meet employers’ requirements.
Placement and Job Search
As graduates leave learning institutions with good credentials, there is this stigma within Students that there are no jobs ! Our mission at the Centre is to engender professional growth and job acquisition. Therefore after graduating from SFB, we at the Centre will go further on and serve you by marketing you to prospective employers and give recommendations for vocational, part time or full time employment.
Attachments
To meet the changing trends in labour markets and management where prior acquisition of practical skills and attitudes is necessary, the SFBCC set the objective of building and strengthening professional capacity of our students by securing attachment and practical programmes to organisations and firms. For committed and hardworking students attachment opportunities usually lead to employment in the same organisations.
Internal and External links
Our linkages cut across all the academic departments as we provide services in career development for our prospective, continuing students and alumni. We will establish and nurture links with many organizations in Rwanda.
