Rector

Professor Reid Whitlock is the Rector (Vice Chancellor) of the School of Finance and Banking.

As the senior officer in charge of the SFB community, he is the person ultimately responsible for dormitory life, academic standards and innovation, administrative quality, discipline, morale, student placement, alumni relations, fund-raising and more.

He brings experience from the private sector (management consulting, academic publishing and banking), the military (special operations, counter-terrorism, defense attaché duties, and small unit leadership), academe (as instructor, dean and university president), diplomacy & development (public diplomacy, food aid, agro-forestry, governance, leadership, post-conflict reconstruction) and from a life lived in countries
throughout the world from Sri Lanka to Saudi Arabia to Senegal, Taiwan to Tanzania.

He is trained in foreign languages, area studies, international law, business and economics, and has published in fields ranging from competitiveness to leadership to treaty law to food security to transport economics.

He teaches Banking and Strategy at SFB and is a frequent contributor to panels, colloquia, debates and workshops.

He has a Ph.D (economics), MBA (master of business administration), MALD (master of international law) and a B.A. with a major in Chinese and a minor in Classics.
