Goldman Sachs Awards
In 2009, the School of Finance and Banking (SFB), through its partnership with the William Davidson Institute (WDI) and Goldman Sachs, awarded 29 women certificates who completed a six-month entrepreneurship training. The "10,000 Women" programme is sponsered by Goldman Sachs, a leading global investment banking, securities and investment management firm, aims at assisting 10,000 women with a business and management education in improving the quality and capacity of businesses around the globe.
The ceremony was presided over by Antoine Ruvebana, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Commerce and took place at the Hilltop Hotel, Remera. During his speech Ruvebana encouraged the women to utilize their newly acquired skills towards a positive change in their lives and the country in general stating, "This is not only a big achievement for you, but for the entire country."
Ernestine Musengerwa and Josiane Mugorewicyeza who emerged the best in developing Business Plans were both awarded $2,500.
