LAUNCH OF PEDAGOGICAL TRAINING
SFB was last week honored and congratulated for having borne the brilliant idea of hosting the event of the Pedagogical Training for its teaching staff that lasted for five working days from 24th-28th May, 2010. This remark was made by the Director of Academic Quality for Higher Education Council in Rwanda, Mr. Innocent Mugisha, at the official Launch of the Pedagogical Training that took place at SFB campus. The aim of the training was to improve on the knowledge of the teaching staff so that concentration can be shifted from Teacher Centered Teaching-Strategy to Student Centered Teaching-Strategy. This has been evidenced by the philosophy that students are not necessarily empty when they come to school but they have knowledge. The school experience therefore, is simply an opportunity to enable them demonstrate their potential. Furthermore, the training was intended to create favorable learning environment in order to enable the students to do self discovery by adopting activity based learning. The overall aim of the training was to make sure that the SFB staff is now equipped with the necessary skills to handle the Module system of teaching that is likely to commence with the next academic year. This system is given an upper hand as it is more of learner centered compared to what has been taking place in teaching and learning situation.
